What is the AFA?

The American Football Association is a simulation football league. The league was founded in 2024 by the league commissioner himself, Leander Streeter. The goal of the league is to serve as an alternative to the NFL and its league schedule by operating during the spring and summer months.
The league’s first season will begin in 2025.

Is The AFA Entirely Simulation?

Yes! With the help of modding tools and artistic vision, the AFA uses assets from Madden NFL 22. Each team’s logo, uniform, colors, and design assets were created by the League Commissioner. The players currently are fictional but utilize some likenesses of existing NFL players. The league consists of 32 teams, split into 2 conferences, featuring 16 teams in each conference, made up of 4 divisions within each conference that contain 4 teams each. There currently are no plans to expand the league to larger than 32 teams.

League Schedule

Each team is scheduled to play a total of 18 games over the course of 18 weeks with 9 home games and 9 away games. Each team will play 6 division games, 8 in conference games and 4 out of conference games.  Each team within a division will face the same opponents every year giving them an equal strength of schedule. The schedule will change from year to year.

Playoff Format

Our playoffs consist of 12 teams in total in a single elimination tournament. The 2 teams with the best records that have won their division will be the 1st and 2nd seed in the playoffs. The other 2 division winners will be the 3 and 4 seeds. There are opportunities for 2 other teams to obtain the 5 and 6 seeds in the wildcard slots. The 1st and 2nd seed of each conference will have a bye week in the 1st round of the playoffs. The highest seed will always play the lowest remaining seed in the playoffs. There currently aren’t plans for expanding the playoffs beyond 12 teams.
